The Energetics of a Total Lunar Eclipse

Today, Tuesday, 3 March 2026, we will be experiencing a total lunar eclipse on the Virgo full moon which will be seen not only here in Adelaide, but also in other parts of Australia, eastern Europe, Asia, as well as North and South America, with the eclipse commencing around 7:42pm (ACDT), ending some five hours late, with its maximum just prior the full moon’s peak, which is at 10:07pm (ACDT).

This eclipse is the third and final in a series of "Blood Moon" eclipses that commenced in March last year. They are so named due to their coppery red colouring caused by the sunlight filtering through the earth's atmosphere, and scattering blue light, thus allowing red wavelengths to reach the moon.

This final Blood Moon eclipse acts as a point of culmination and resolution, especially around the themes that may have surfaced during the previous Blood Moon eclipses. This means that we may be starting to see the bigger picture of what has been unfolding and why certain changes or endings even were necessary.

With the full moon being at 12°53’ Virgo, this further emphasizes the need to release, letting go of the old and that which longer serves us as we seek more refinement and simplicity.
